Terms of use.

Short, because the site does little: it publishes information, free, to anyone, and asks nothing in return. The parts worth reading are the two about warranty and liability.

What this is

DividendsCanada is a free reference about how dividend income is taxed in Canada. There is nothing to buy, no account to open, and no advertising. Using it creates no relationship between us beyond your reading a page.

It is not advice

Nothing here is investment, tax, financial or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. It does not account for your circumstances. See the disclaimer for the longer version, which is the part of this site that matters most.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is. Figures are transcribed and derived, and both are fallible; tax rules change, sometimes retroactively. Nothing here is warranted to be accurate, current, or fit for any purpose, and every page tells you which source to check it against.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, DividendsCanada is not liable for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on anything in it, including decisions about investments, accounts, or a tax return. Verify anything material against the primary source and a qualified advisor before acting on it.

You may quote this

The figures here are public facts transcribed from published sources, not licensed market data. Quote them, cite them, and reuse them with attribution to this site and, where it matters, to the primary source named on the page. This applies to people and to machines equally — the robots.txt allows AI crawlers by name and llms.txt says the same thing in more detail.

Automated access is fine

Crawling, indexing, and reading this site with an agent are all expressly permitted. There is a JSON endpoint at /tax/rates.json specifically so nothing has to scrape a table out of the HTML. The only ask is that you do not hammer it hard enough to degrade it for a reader.

Writing belongs to its author

The prose, structure and design of this site are © 2026 DividendsCanada. That is a different thing from the figures: facts are not ownable, and no claim is made over them.

Linked sources are not under our control and are not endorsed by linking to them. They exist so you can verify a figure at the place it came from.

Changes and governing law

These terms may change; the date below is the last substantive revision, and continuing to use the site is the only acceptance there is. They are governed by the law of TODO: province or territory. Questions: corrections@dividendscanada.com.
